Q1. 5インチゲージレールとはどのようなものですか？

A:
5インチゲージレールは、JIS規格50kg/mレールを 1/8.4スケール に縮尺した鉄製レールです。
実物のレールは製鉄所で「熱間圧延」という方法で製造されます。

• 熱間圧延：金属を加熱し柔らかくした状態で、ロールで押し延ばす製造方法

• 圧延：回転するロールで金属を押し潰しながら延ばす加工

当社（有限会社ヤマダ金属商会）の5インチゲージレールは、実物とは異なる方法で製造します。

当社の製造工程（概要）

1. 製鉄所で丸い形状のコイル材を“熱間圧延”で製造

2. 磨棒鋼メーカーにて“冷間引抜”により丸材をレール形状へ加工

• 冷間引抜：丸や六角などの金型を使い、常温で材料を引き抜いて成形する方法（当社の鋼材加工の大半がこの方法です）

Q1. What are 5-inch gauge rails?

A:
5-inch gauge rails are steel rails scaled down to 1/8.4 of the JIS 50kg/m standard rail.
Real full-size rails are manufactured at steel mills using a process called hot rolling.

• Hot Rolling: Heating metal to soften it and rolling it into shape

• Rolling: Using rotating rolls to compress and stretch metal

Our 5-inch gauge rails at Yamada Metal Trading Co., Ltd. are produced differently from real rails.

Our Manufacturing Process

1. Steel mills produce round coil stock by hot rolling

2. A cold-drawing mill reshapes the round material into rail profiles

• Cold Drawing: Forming metal at room temperature by pulling it through dies (used for most steel materials we handle)

Q2. I don’t have a large space. Can I use the rails as indoor interior items?

Yes. The 5-inch gauge system offers unlimited creative possibilities.
It can be enjoyed indoors as a display item.

• Interior decorations using multiple sleepers

• A display stand for handmade rolling stock

Q4. 自宅の庭に敷きたいのですが、注意点を教えてください。

A:
当社の5インチゲージ線路は 屋外常設向け の設計です。
レール・枕木は実物に近い形状のため角ばっており重量があります。
けがの原因となるため 屋内では使用しないでください。

設置時の注意（庭・駐車場など）

• 必ず地面が水平な場所に敷設してください

• 傾斜地は脱線・転倒事故の原因となります

• 芝生や土の上など、地盤が不安定な場所では使用不可

Q4. I want to install rails in my garden. What should I be careful about?

A:
Our 5-inch gauge tracks are designed for permanent outdoor installation.
Rails and sleepers are heavy and have sharp edges, similar to real railway materials.
For safety reasons, do not use them indoors.

Installation Notes:

• Install only on level ground (yards, parking areas, etc.)

• Sloped surfaces may cause derailments and accidents

• Do not install on unstable ground such as lawns or bare soil

敷設場所によってポイントが異なります。

コンクリート上の場合

• 水平を確認し、アンカーボルト等でしっかり固定

バラスト（砂利）上の場合

• 線路を水平にしながら、下の砂利を突き固めて調整

A:
Yes. The key points vary depending on the foundation.

On concrete:

• Check the level and securely fasten the track using anchor bolts

On ballast (gravel):

• Adjust the level of the rails and compact the ballast underneath

Q6. Can you create a layout plan based on my site drawings?

Yes.
We can prepare layout drawings according to the track plan you wish to install.
Providing a simple hand-drawn sketch with rough dimensions will greatly help the design process.

Q8. 自作車両を走らせる際の注意点はありますか？

A:
当社のレールは、5インチゲージ車両メーカーの台車規格に合わせた寸法設計となっています。

特に下記をご注意ください：

• メーカー製の車輪・車軸を使用してください（寸法が規格外だと破損の原因になります）

• 分岐器は精密部品のため、非規格車輪は絶対に使用しないでください

近年、自作車両による破損トラブルが増加しています。
当社は2024年春より、統一規格の車輪・車軸の製造販売も開始しました。

Q8. What should I be aware of when running my self-built rolling stock?

A:
Our 5-inch gauge tracks are designed according to standard bogie dimensions used by major manufacturers.

Please observe the following:

• Use manufacturer-made wheels and axles (non-standard sizes may cause damage)

• Turnouts contain precision components; non-standard wheels must not be used

As inquiries about damage caused by non-standard vehicles have increased,
we began manufacturing and selling standardized wheels and axles in spring 2024.

 

 

 

 

Q9. レールと車輪に相性はありますか？

A:

特に以下が一致していない場合、分岐器などで事故の原因になります。

• フランジ寸法

• バックゲージ（車輪裏側の間隔）

これらが合わないと：

• ガードレール

• トングレール

• ウイングレール

などに接触し、
脱線・乗り上げ・分岐器破損・怪我 の原因になります。

必ず適合車輪をご使用ください。

Q9. Are there compatibility issues between rails and wheels?

A:
Yes.
Mismatched specifications—especially flange size and back-to-back gauge—can cause serious issues on turnouts.

If the wheels do not meet the specifications, they may contact:

• Guard rails

• Switch points

• Nose rails

• Wing rails

This can result in derailment, damage, or injuries.

A:
通常は 配送中の破損リスクを考慮し、キット状態での出荷 を基本としております。

ただし：

• 別途組立費用をいただく場合、当社にて組立可能

• 組立済みの場合、サイズが大きくなるため 配送費用が高額 になることがあります

• 分岐器は当社で組立済み です

• ただし、ダルマ式転轍機の接続はお客様側でお願いいたします（配送の都合上）

Q11. Do you offer assembly services for kits?

A:
We typically ship products as kits to avoid damage during transportation.

However:

• We can assemble them for an additional fee

• Shipping costs may increase significantly due to larger package size

• Turnouts are assembled at our factory

• The daruma-type switch stand must be attached by the customer due to shipping constraints

受注生産（納期3か月程度）
実物（軌間610mm）のナベトロを採寸し、
5インチゲージ（軌間127mm）用に 設計・加工・組立・焼付塗装 を施して仕上げた製品です。

特徴

• 明治〜昭和期に活躍したトロッコ貨車を再現

• レトロな雰囲気で、

  • 走行可能

  • 室内・店舗インテリアとしても人気

ナベトロは現存数が少なく、大変貴重な車両です。

Q12. What is the 5-inch gauge “Nabetoro” cart?

A:

Custom Made (About 3 Months for Delivery)
We measured an original 610mm-gauge Nabetoro cart and recreated it for 127mm (5-inch) gauge through
designing, machining, assembling, and baking-finish painting.

Features:

• Faithfully reproduces the classic trolley used from the Meiji to Showa era

• Nostalgic appearance

• Usable both as a running vehicle and as an interior decoration

Original Nabetoro cars are rare and historically valuable.

現在配送は国内のみとなっております。
当社製品は大型のため、下記の配送方法となります。

• **西濃運輸（支店止め）**が基本

• 佐川急便・クロネコヤマトでの配送も場合により可能

• 大量注文は 当社便 での配送も対応（要相談）

• 倉庫でのお引き取りも可能（群馬県伊勢崎市）

Q14. How are the products shipped?

A:

We currently ship only within Japan.
Because many of our products are large or heavy:

• The main carrier is Seino Transportation (branch pick-up)

• Sagawa Express or Yamato Transport may be used depending on the order

• For large orders, delivery by our company truck is also available

• Customer pickup is also possible at our warehouse in Gunma Prefecture

当社工場（群馬県伊勢崎市宮子町3503-11）へご来社いただき、
お客様ご自身で製品をお引き取りいただくことを指します。

A:
It means that you visit our factory (Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture)
and pick up the products directly yourself.
